Elizabeth Samia
Longwood Events
A highly revered Vogue magazine art critic once remarked, “innovations change definitions.” And certainly Elizabeth Samia is a prime example of that dictum. In eight years in the floral/event design industry, her discerning eye and penchant for an ability to invent and bring seemingly disparate elements together has placed her on the pulse for event design. “Elizabeth creates rooms that thrill, seduce and surprise anyone who enters. She breaks rules to make new ones. People often seem uncertain at individual first glance until the project is collectively put together in which she tackles a delightfully eccentric or over-the-top focal point.”-christina bohigian, Kapadia
In order to convince clients they need an unusual and/or dramatic backdrop, Elizabeth has learned and developed the art of persuasion along the years. Her goal is to help shape the venues individual brand and identity instead of the assembly-line replications you’ll find in impersonal venues. Beginning with large decisions, such as choosing a color scheme and transforms a space to fit the clients vision she moves on to the details-flowers, furniture, lighting, table settings and more.
Ms. Samia’s inspiration has come from many sources, such as nature:
“I get most of my creative ideas simply by paying attention to the world around me. One place I constantly look to is nature. With a floral design background, I worked with elements of nature everyday-flowers, leaves, wood, petals, and vines. Nature is beautiful in its structure and design. This gave me the appreciation of the freshness and assumingly perfect beauty of flowers and the emotions they evoke.” -elizabeth samia
What rewards her most is witnessing those first seconds once introduced to the client to something they have never seen before and will probably never see again. Elizabeth has learned to thrive when trying new things and always pushes herself to find fresh and exciting directions, while hoping her enthusiasm will be contagious.
Ms. Samia has been involved in the floral/event design industry since 2002. She started as a manager at The White Horse inn, CT. which eventually lead her to the prestigious Winston flowers as a wedding designer. Soon enough, she sought after the independent floral design position at 15 Beacon working with most mainstream venues in Boston, including IV Beacon, Federalist and Mistral. She currently resides in Brookline, MA and commutes to her design studio at Longwood Events located on 60 State Street Boston, MA working as an event/interior designer.
